EMPLOYMENT AGENCY RISKS PERSONAL INFORMATION

A report by Graeme Moore posted on Tuesday, March 11th to the website of South Carolina-based WPDE NewsChannel 15, tells of several boxes packed full of sensitive, personal information, such as social security numbers with names, checking account numbers, and healthcare records from as many as 1,000 people were found this week in a Florence, SC dumpster.

The report also states that the records were traced to a local employment agency.

The article also makes note of the fact that at this time no law was violated but, if an ID Theft prevention bill, which is currently before the South Carolina legislature, is passed, that it will contain a provision that makes it illegal to discard personal information without taking the precaution of destroying it.
