AUSTRALIAN E-HEALTH SYSTEM DELAY ANTICIPATED

This article in the Sydney Morning Herald reports that the electronic patient identifier system will likely be delayed until after the election due to concerns over security and privacy.
 
According to the article, practitioners and academics are calling for amendments to the legislation.   Advocates for the electronic base health records system, on the other hand, point to privacy breaches and healthcare mistakes with the current paper-based system in supporting the new plan.
