IRISH DATA PROTECTION COMMISSIONER CALLS FOR BREACH NOTIFICATION
The Irish Times' reports.
1 June 2010

Billy Hawkes, Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner, recently produced a draft code of practice. The code would require that the Data Protection Commissioner's Office be informed of any incident involving unauthorized access to more than 100 individuals and any loss of sensitive personal or financial data.

The draft code of practice comes on the heels of recommendations last week by a government-appointed Data Protection Review Group calling for the code of practice as well as for prosecution in cases where organizations or individuals fail to report breaches.
