NAID : News : More Records Found in Charlotte Area

June 27, 2010- As readers of this publication know, NAID has been tracking the story of North Carolina healthcare provider Prompt Med, who just last month agreed to settle with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office for $50,000 after carelessly discarding patient records. Now, one month later, hundreds of medical records containing patient data and other sensitive information were found at a public dumping facility in the Charlotte area. While the owner of the records is unknown as of press time, given the precedent created by the Prompt Med case, it is not unreasonable to think if identified the owner may face similar penalties.
